Hotlinking

Hotlinking is the practice of posting an image linked to the original site where you found it. Hotlinking is illegal because it draws valuable bandwidth from the site its from. Image hosting sites were developed for the purpose of preventing this. Furthermore, it is against Proboards Terms of Service (TOS). Members of DCU are required to use an image hosting site to host images. Great hosting sites include Imageshack, Photobucket and Tinypic.

Note: Imageshack can be used if you don't want to save the image to your computer. Just copy the url of the image and select url on the upload options.

Cbox Rules

When you sign up at this board, register your character name in the cbox. For every additional character you acquire, register their names too, that way nobody else (possibly a troll) can register and use the name. Use only your character names in the cbox otherwise you will be mistaken for a spammer and/or troll. Ultimately, we would like our members to choose one Cbox name and stick with it unless that character is dropped.

• Keep cbox convos friendly. No insults, flaming or rudeness.
  
  
• Respect the authority of DCU's mods. If they tell you stop posting for any reason, stop. If you disagree with something a staff member has told you, please PM an admin and we'll try to resolve the situation.
  
  
• Do not impersonate others (you will likely be banned for this).
  
  
• No spamming or advertising other RP boards unless given permission to do so by a staff member.
  
  
• The cbox is not a place to air complaints and/or grievances. Don't be a killjoy
  
  
• Do not talk about other sites, whether they are dead or alive, in the cbox. DCLU is the only exception.

PG-13 Board Rating

Intimacy:
Everything that leads up to hanky panky is acceptable (like in a PG-13 movie). As soon as the clothes start coming off, that's the end of the line. Leave the thread up to people's imaginations (which will prove to be a lot more creative).

Curse Words:
If you curse within an RP thread, use moderation! Keep cursing in general/community threads to a minimum and don't curse at all in the c-box. You never know who you might offend so it's best to find substitute words if you're uncertain if a curse word would be acceptable.

Violence:
Again, don't go overboard. We RP in a world of war, fights, and brawls, but we're still a PG-13 rated board (as are all Proboards). Don't get graphic.

Self-RPing

Self-RPing is using two or more of your own characters to RP with yourself. We realize that there are times when this is required to aid the flow and narrative of a thread, but there's a limit. Self-responses should be no more than three consecutive responses in a thread. That does not mean three responses per character.

Joining a Team

Super Heroes and Vigilantes:
Each character can be a full time member to one team and a reserve to another. You cannot be a full time member or reserve for more than two teams. This is important when people are sent on missions. Sign up in the correct roster here. [TBA]

Super Villains and Rogues:
Each character can be a member of one team and only one. Villains are much less trusting than a heroes so they can only be under one team leader. Sign up in the correct roster here. [TBA]

Deletions

Reasons for deletion:

• Made an account & didn't created bio: deleted after one week
  
• Bio went unfinished/pending or incomplete (by admin request): deleted after one week
  
• Bio has been deleted by admin (mentioned above), account remains inactive: deleted after week
  
• Bio accepted and then inactive: [R] removed after two weeks
  
• Lost character due to inactivity: deleted a week after [R] was removed
  
• Dropped a character: [R] and deleted immediately.
  
• Created an account to contact a member and/or leave an advertisement: deleted immediately
